TechPerspectives NY

Where design innovations & technologies come together

Technology is transforming the way that buildings and infrastructure are designed, constructed and operated. It is helping improve decision making and performance across the buildings and infrastructure lifecycle.

TechPerspectives seminars focus on the most exciting technologies driving significant change in the design and construction industry. For the second year in a row, The Architect's Newspaper and Microsol Resources have combined forces to present a full day program of presentations from AEC industry leaders and co-locating TechPerspectives at TECH+.

This year, we will hear from design technology innovators about collaboration & building information modeling (BIM), sustainability and visualization. We will be hearing different perspectives from architects, engineers, constructors and owners as well as industry experts including:

ARCHITECTURE | DESIGN | DATA = PRACTICE COMPETENCY IN THE ERA OF COMPUTATION
Phil Bernstein, Associate Dean & Senior Lecturer | Yale School of Architecture & Autodesk Fellow

KEY TRENDS THAT ARE TRANSFORMING THE GLOBAL CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY
Stephen Jones, Senior Director | Dodge Data & Analytics

THE DIGITAL TWIN AND THE FUTURE OF AEC COLLABORATION
Dennis Shelden, Director of Digital Building Lab | Georgia Tech

Collaboration & BIM

CONNECTING DESIGN AND DATA THROUGH THE PROJECT LIFECYCLE

Technology is radically transforming the way that buildings and infrastructure are designed, constructed, and operated. With BIM at the core of your project delivery, the need for anytime, anywhere, collaboration, data continuity comes into play. How do we make sure we're all working on the most up to date information and maintaining a single source of truth? Hear from our various tech innovators as we discuss the future of tightly connected BIM tools:

Jeremy Munn, Program Director, Facilities Division & Lecturer, School of Architecture | Northeastern University
Dareen Salama
, Director of Technical Services | Lehrer
Jan Leengnegt
, BIM Manager | BIG
Paul Kassabian
, Associate Principal | Simpson Gumpertz & Heger

Sustainabilty

DESIGNING FOR ENERGY EFFICIENCY

Investments in healthier buildings are poised to be a transformative trend in the construction industry. Join us to learn more about the tactical intelligence and technology that is transforming the future of building design and construction. We will hear from the experts as they discuss the varying perspectives of sustainable design:

Tony Saracino, Customer Sustainability Engagement Manager | Autodesk
Alexandra Pollock
, Director of Design Technology | FXCollaborative
Christopher Mackey
, Building Scientist | Payette Associates

Visualization

ENHANCED REALITIES & IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCES

Visualization has been heralded a radical new era for the design industry. VR, AR and mixed reality has been allowing architects and engineers to create stunning, interactive walkthroughs and provide clients with a realistic sense of how it would feel like to actually experience a simulated environment. Technology enables visualizing spaces and render architectural models in immersive environments, utilizing augmented reality to create three dimensional objects within a real space, and creating a VR walkthrough based on your BIM data. Hear from different design experts the new ways for architects, engineers, and contractors to better visualize, share and construct projects.

Iffat Mai, Practice Application Development Leader | Perkins+Will
Christopher Mayer
, Chief Innovation Officer | Suffolk Construction
Christopher Connock
, Design Computation Director | KieranTimberlake
